WHILE WE WAIT, 2020 - 2026

While We Wait brings together images from two ongoing bodies of work exploring ideas of escapism, memory, intimacy, and the emotional residue attached to place. Initially sparked by a desire to reconnect with America after living abroad for many years, the project emerged from moving through small towns, roadside stops, and in between places across the United States, attempting to understand the country through fragments, landscapes, portraits, and text encountered along the way.

The work focuses on moments that feel suspended, times where something has just ended or has yet to begin. The images move between moments of postcard beauty and ghostly decay: abandoned buildings, broken signage, handwritten messages, and fleeting encounters that sit somewhere between fiction and documentary. The names of towns such as Atomic City, Hope, and Soda Springs become symbolic markers within the work, carrying both wonder and contradiction.

Double exposures and layered imagery appear throughout the series, collapsing internal and external realities and allowing emotion, memory, and observation to coexist within the frame. Rather than following a fixed narrative, While We Wait unfolds slowly through sequencing, where meaning is shaped as much by what is left unresolved as by what is seen.
